Subject	cranks over but wont start

Message	some background on the car. i just replaced the automatic transmission in my 90tt started up no problem after it was replaced i also replaced the ground cable from the trans. i took it out one night and heard a screeching sound starting and stopping then it stopped completely well i parked it in a parking lot to go into the city, got back to my car started up let it start warming up while i was talking and heard a pop then it died and wouldnt restart. the motor is getting fuel, the ground is good and tight and there is spark what could it be thanks for the advice in advance
